Physical Education Software for Colleges

eFit is kinesiology department software for universities and community colleges that run large activity sections. Students log workouts from the devices they already carry, eFit scores the work against your rubric, and you export a gradebook file for D2L, Canvas, Blackboard, or Moodle. Faculty accounts are free and your institution pays no license fee. Student access is $59 per semester.

Large Activity Sections Break Manual Grading

A kinesiology or HHP department can carry several hundred students across walking, conditioning, weight training, and lifetime fitness sections in a single term. Each of those students turns in weekly activity logs, two fitness assessments, and a set of reflection entries. Multiply that by fourteen or sixteen weeks and the arithmetic gets ugly fast.

The work that eats evenings is clerical: reading handwritten logs, retyping minutes into a spreadsheet, calculating assessment scores against age and gender norms, and chasing the students who forgot to submit. eFit takes over those four jobs. Faculty keep the judgment calls, the rubric, and the office-hours conversations.

  • Weekly activity minutes scored automatically against your point scale
  • No retyping from paper logs or email attachments into a spreadsheet
  • Assessment scores calculated from age and gender norms
  • Automated email reminders sent to students who fall behind
  • One gradebook file per section when grades are due

Campus Systems

Grade Exports for D2L, Canvas, Blackboard, and Moodle

Your gradebook of record stays where your registrar and your students expect it.

eFit produces a grade file already formatted for the system your campus runs. Select your LMS, choose the grade type, then download and import. That is the whole workflow, and it takes three clicks. Full support covers D2L Brightspace, Blackboard Learn in both Original and Ultra course views, Canvas from Instructure, Moodle 3.x and 4.x, Schoology from PowerSchool, and SAP Litmos.

You control what leaves the platform. Export weekly activity grades during the term, mid-term progress grades for early-alert reporting, fitness assessment scores on their own, a custom date range for an incomplete, or a combined activity and assessment grade at the end of the term. Details of every supported system are on the LMS integration page.

  • Weekly activity grades
  • Mid-term progress grades
  • Final semester grades
  • Custom date range exports
  • Fitness assessment scores
  • Combined activity and assessment grades

What Your Students Actually Do Each Week

Completion rates hold up when logging takes seconds on a phone.

Activity syncs from their own devices

Fitbit is the recommended tracker, and eFit also works with Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Watch, Garmin, Xiaomi Mi Band, Fossil smartwatches, and anything that syncs with Google Health or Apple Health. Students with no wearable use a smartphone app. See activity tracking.

Assessments at two points in the term

Pushup test, one-minute crunch test, the Rockport 1-Mile Walk Test with VO2MAX calculated from time, heart rate, weight, age, and gender, plus BMI and optional weight. Details on the fitness assessment page.

Reflection through the PocketAI Journal

Activity courses that carry a writing or reflection requirement can use the PocketAI Journal for entries tied to what the student logged that week, which gives the reflection assignment something concrete to point at.

Personalized plans keep them coming back

AI-generated workouts with video demonstrations, meal plans with shopping lists, the Walking Journey with rewards, nutrition tracking, weight training logs, and an interactive eBook. Browse the full list on the features overview.

Assessment Evidence for Program Review

Department chairs get asked the same question every review cycle: show us that students in your activity courses improved. Anecdotes and a stack of paper logs make a thin appendix. eFit keeps the pre and post assessment record for every student in every section, so the evidence is already assembled when the self-study is due.

Each student has a beginning-of-term and end-of-term score for pushups, crunches, the 1-Mile Walk Test, VO2MAX, and BMI, with improvement reported in both absolute and percentage terms. Class-wide analytics roll those individuals up to the section level, and cross-term comparison lets you show the same course across several semesters. Assessment data exports to CSV for your own analysis or to PDF for the appendix.

  • CSV or PDF export for the self-study appendix

Student records are handled under FERPA, encrypted with 256-bit SSL in transit and at rest.

Semester Timeline

What a Term on eFit Looks Like

Four moments where the platform does the work you would otherwise do by hand.

1

Setup week

Create the course, set your point scale and weekly minute targets, and post the student join instructions in your LMS. A first course takes about fifteen minutes. Onboarding support is free.

2

Weeks 1 and 2

Students connect a tracker or phone app and complete their baseline assessments. The analytics dashboard shows you who has joined and who still needs a nudge.

3

Midterm checkpoint

Export mid-term progress grades for early-alert reporting, review weekly minutes by section, and let automated reminders handle the students drifting toward a zero.

4

Finals week

Students complete post-assessments. You export combined activity and assessment grades, import the file into your gradebook, and keep the assessment record for program review.

Department Realities: Adjuncts and Academic Integrity

Onboarding part-time instructors

Activity courses are often staffed by adjuncts hired close to the start of the term, and a grading method that lives in one person's spreadsheet does poorly under that kind of turnover. eFit gives every section the same structure, so a new instructor inherits a working course setup and a defined point scale on day one.

Setting up a first course takes about fifteen minutes. Onboarding support costs nothing, and training webinars run every semester. Midwestern State University reached 100% faculty adoption across 15 course sections in its Kinesiology Department.

Ask about department onboarding

Self-reported activity and grade defensibility

Handwritten activity logs are the weakest link in a traditional activity course. A student fills in the whole page the night before it is due, and the instructor has no record to check it against.

eFit changes the source of the data. Activity syncs from a connected wearable or phone app and lands in the record dated as it happens, so the dashboard shows a day-by-day history for each student across the whole term. Pair that with the pre and post assessments you administer in class and the reflection entries in the PocketAI Journal, and a grade challenge has an audit trail behind it.

Questions from Department Chairs

What faculty ask before the first pilot section.

D2L Brightspace, Blackboard Learn in both Original and Ultra course views, Canvas from Instructure, Moodle 3.x and 4.x, Schoology from PowerSchool, and SAP Litmos are all fully supported. Grade files are formatted for the system you select. If your campus runs something else, contact us and we can likely support it.
Students join your eFit course from instructions you post in your LMS, and grades come back as a file formatted for your gradebook. Select your LMS, choose the grade type, then download and import. That takes three clicks. If you want a specific roster workflow for your campus, contact us and we will tell you what is possible today.
Activity comes from a connected device or app, so it is recorded as it happens across the term. Fitbit, Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Watch, Garmin, Xiaomi Mi Band, Fossil smartwatches, and anything syncing with Google Health or Apple Health all work. The dashboard shows each student day by day, which makes gaps and last-minute patterns visible before grades are final.
There is no license fee for your institution, and faculty accounts are free, including section setup, LMS integration, and reporting. Student access is $59 per student, per semester, which covers the full platform for the whole term. Students can purchase directly from eFit with a card, buy an access code through the campus bookstore, or receive a seat from a department bulk purchase when you choose to cover the cost.
Yes. eFit is FERPA compliant, and student data is encrypted in transit and at rest with 256-bit SSL. Servers sit in SSAE-16 certified facilities with 24/7 monitoring and biometric access controls. The platform is ADA compliant and designed to meet WCAG 2.2 AAA, which matters for campus accessibility review.
Most instructors set up a first course in about fifteen minutes. Onboarding support is free, and training webinars run every semester for departments adding new adjunct instructors. Many programs start with one pilot section and expand the following term.

Most departments take one of two paths. List eFit with your course materials so students buy an access code at the campus bookstore the same way they pay for their other course materials, or purchase seats in bulk on a single invoice or purchase order when the department covers student access. Bulk pricing is quoted per institution, so email sales@efit.software for a quote or for the listing details your bookstore needs. All three purchase channels are on the pricing page.
